Bedford Stone & Masonry Supply offers a wide variety of building stones in numerous shapes, colors, textures and sizes. Veneer stone is approximately 3” to 7” thick and is applied over a structural backup wall. The shape of a veneer stone can vastly change its appearance. A “mosaic” veneer stone is irregularly shaped. “Roughly square and rectangular” veneer stones are shaped so that they are somewhat more rectangular as the name implies, and “ashlar” veneers refer to stones shaped in long, narrow strips. In addition, the type of joint can affect the final look of your project. Some joints are recessed and can barely be seen, others may be uniform, flush or wide. Discuss the type of joint you would like with your contractor.
